John may be the smartest guy in the crop circle room. Early on, after a few years in the computer games industry, he turned the world on to the astonishing geometry with which the circles are designed. His Masters was focused on geometry and harmony in the solar system, and culminated in his Book of Coincidence, which he published under a new imprint, Wooden Books, a series of richly-illustrated and fascinating books exploring the age-old themes of nature, pattern, cosmos, design and geometry. It now lists more than 60 titles, with 2.5 million printed copies in 25 languages, and it won an award for Best Non-Fiction Series at the New York Book Show. He has this food for thought to say about the circles: “Although I don’t myself believe that aliens “did it”, it’s one possible solution. I’m more of the school of thought that says that the whole universe is a super-intelligent being, and that’s who’s done it.” The Martineau Solar System Series consists of 12 ray-traced images inspired by the remarkable work of geometer John Martineau, in ” A Little Book of Coincidence“. I think Martineau will (someday, hopefully soon!) be heralded among Kepler, Galileo, Newton and Einstein for the astronomical discoveries he’s made. I HIGHLY recommend John’s book if you haven’t seen it. In it, he details dozens of astonishingly accurate and simple geometrical models of our solar system that I imagine will become grade school classics for teaching relative spacing of planets.
