Greg is an investigative reporter who has a flair I find fetching. I’d been a fan for a long time, and when he was the guest of honor at a 2009 fundraising dinner for KPFK, our L.A. progressive radio station, I bought a ticket hoping to meet him. Well, I had greater success than I had dreamed of having, wrangling a seat right next to him at a round table for eight where I was on the left side of him and a friend of his was on his right side, with five others none of us knew in the seats across from us. Imagine my dismay then, thinking I was going to get to be buddy buddy with Greg, when those five strangers kept that from happening. As they kept talking to me Greg kept talking to his friend, and I remained a stranger to him. Years later I remedied that with a donation that got me a producer credit on his movie, “Vigilantes Inc.: America’s New Vote Suppression Hitmen,” that’s about the unethical tactics used to suppress the black vote, to where, had those votes been counted we likely would have had Democrat victories instead of Trump wins. Greg and I are friends now.

From a year-old interview with former NASA astronaut Ron Garan, that has 5,837 comments and 55K likes, Garan pointed out that problems such as deforestation, global warming, and climate change are symptoms of an underlying root problem. He said there is something bigger that humans don’t see: “I saw the unbelievable thinness of our planet’s atmosphere.” Garan was troubled by how easily this fact is overshadowed by economic priorities. “I saw an iridescent biosphere teeming with life. I didn’t see the economy. But since our human-made systems treat everything, including the very life-support systems of our planet, as wholly owned subsidiaries of the global economy, it’s obvious from the vantage point of space that we’re living a lie.” According to Garan, humanity’s inability to see the bigger picture limits our potential to solve the planet’s real problems. “There is no such thing as them. There’s only us.”

Why there is no follow-up on Trump’s hallucinatory claim of his helicopter flight with Willie Brown. Message received, and how surprisingly enlightened it is. In fact, how much better off we’d be if Marianne’s ideas were in play. I’ve gone from trying to get attention paid to her to trying to connect her to Kamala Harris for some educating and influencing. For all the knocks Marianne gets from people who have no firsthand experience of her, those who’ve had exposure to what she’s been doing for decades have been effusively supportive of her. Politics is the last major social category for consciousness to begin to come into play, and the hostile territory Marianne found herself in could use the perspectives she brings. With Marianne’s smarts, Harris could bring in not just victory at the polls but a new spirit of serving the people – all the people.

I sent them this: “There is a changeful tack to take that the Patriotic Millionaires could deliver to humanity. What is holding the current system in place? It’s people. We make the laws. What if humanity acquired a different mindset, where it was natural to take care of Earth and each other? I’m not whistling Dixie. That is possible. Every civilization has a creation story, an organizing myth. We need one for a planetary civilization. And we have that story. The Hubble telescope showed us an expanding – i.e. alive – universe, that’s not fixed in place, but is one process where we’re evolving together. This needs to be the basis of a creation myth for humanity. I propose that it be taught to the Millionaires by Brian Swimme, a physicist and mathematical cosmologist who is its most charismatic storyteller. People would come out changed beings, with a passion to change everyone else! There are videos of Brian Swimme in my Substack posts. This 2-minutes will give you the flavor.”

Someone who’d read the 20 finalists’ essays in order to vote on them, remembered one of them, “Round-Up,” when she came across something already in play with the same basic idea and even the same name. Stuart Johnstone, the essayist, had never heard of it. He pointed out that it’s a logical name for dealing with something that can happen with the change people get when they pay cash, but I was struck by the synchronicity. Like it’s a nudge that it’s something to go further with. The project that’s in play is a relatively small-scale version of the essay’s vision, where if survival were handled for so many who are struggling, via the method that’s in the “Round-Up” essay, it could do a lot to get to the cooperative humanity we need to be. This essay is so good from several points of view and contradicts my email about the winners that said none of them dealt with the world becoming vegan that a lot of non-winners dealt with. After 9/11, there was an explosion of energy. Right and wrong was black and white and got us at a fever pitch, and then people vehemently disagreed about what to do. Thinking about then and now, then it was sizzling. As creatures in evolution, it may be massive cultural conflicts, like the Iraq War and Trump, that jar us to greater awareness. The idea of becoming a caring world is in the air, with outrage around militarism floating in a continuum from what got anti-war people in the streets then, to the fury of people opposing each other taking to the streets now. This groove of discontent keeps intensifying, so I take it as a possibility that any day it could give — like the Berlin wall that finally came down. I’ve left my archives on an old site, and I just came across things I shared that I culled from what came out after 9/11: whole pieces, compiled excerpts, and one-liners collected from many pieces. The one-liners, the SOUNDBITES I’m passing along here, blew my mind. Were we sharper then? Has Trumpism dulled us down? I don’t think I’d be able to find so many pithy, trenchant things being said now. You may have to read it in sessions. I found it overwhelming. Is there anything to be done with this? Donald Trump’s Plans to Destroy America

That Trump could garner even one vote has to be a function of something fundamentally off-base with the electorate, but all we do is bat around what we can do to defeat Republicans. As long as income inequality is not dealt with, where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer — historically the cause of revolutions — we have the causal situation where people are so dissatisfied they will do anything that’s different. Since the educational level and consciousness level of humanity is still heavy on the primitive side, we get what we’ve got. Isn’t anyone else sickened by Biden’s unqualified support for Israel? Given Israel behaving now as reprehensibly as Hamas, I find it disgusting. You can’t start at the end, with the Hamas massacre, and treat it as if it’s the beginning. This is THE action to take: “Tell the Israeli government it must sit down with the Palestinians and a respected mediator and resolve this conflict once and for all — starting with an end to the Occupation of Palestine by the Israelis — and including an end to their illegal settlements.” That’s the linchpin that would release the horror and maybe Israel, that seems to have some shame about its retaliation, can use this extreme situation to do a Berlin Wall and have it be the straw that “suddenly” collapses what Israel has been pressed to deal with for so many years.

To counter that, I spent four years producing ELF Enterprises Unlimiting. The motto was, ‘Put the elf back in self,’ and ELF stood for ‘Enlightenment, Love and Fun.’ Play was a modality that changed everything. I’m bringing you another TEDx West Hollywood talk from ten years ago. It’s the third one, after Marianne Williamson and Russell Targ, from my prescient, future-thinking program. It was two weeks before its delivery when TED went crazy and decided that materialist science was the only acceptable subject matter for science-related presentations. Talks Rupert Sheldrake and Graham Hancock had delivered in a London TEDx had just been kept off TED’s archives and war had erupted, followed by their cancellation of my license to add to what so many people objected to. It was the most discussed science story online ever, where the sentiment, except from people TED planted to defend them, was all anti-TED. All of a sudden, this old film, about the early days of that remote-viewing program, resurfaced. If you find this subject of interest, this is fascinating stuff. This quote is in the text below this found-treasure: “The Case of ESP was frequently shown on PBS from 1984 until 1995, at which time for some unknown reason it disappeared from NOVA’s files. It is now also gone from the files of WGBH, Boston, which produced the film, and from Time-Life Books, which distributed it for sale. This is not a fantasy, since I have a master BBC tape and several DVD copies of the original program on my desk. (Interestingly, 1995 was also the year in which the remote-viewing program was officially declassified and terminated by the CIA.) The disappearance of the film has never been explained. Now, to do something about our supremacist culture believing that everything is here for humans, involves humanity changing its mind about who we are. If we see ourselves as divine creatures in a universe where everything is sacred, this smart species will serve the good of the whole. Brian Swimme says, “Our revolution in thinking dwarfs Copernicus’s announcement that the Earth travels around the Sun.” If we come into a coherence where we act as one humanity, we at least will be doing the best that can be done to avert the worst of what we will experience if we don’t change some basic ways.

This is radically controversial. I don’t know if he’s right, but when Seymour Hersh talks I listen. Everyone should. America still isn’t the land of our dreams, and there aren’t many giants like Sy Hersh (or Greg Palast) who expose the nightmares we continue to conjure up. I believe it was the Iraq war that got a naïve populace snapped to attention about how America has operated on the world stage. We know about our transgressions here at home — the persecutions of Indians, of Jews, of Irish, of Blacks, and more. We have been working on that. But we were mostly unaware of America’s manipulations to get the world to work in our favor. When we gasped in horror at those discoveries you’d think we would have cleaned up our act, but Sy Hersh doesn’t lack for new material.

Peter Diamandis, “named by Fortune as one of the ‘World’s 50 Greatest Leaders,’” is talking to Andrew Yang, who we all know, about “fixing American democracy so it actually can solve problems.” They discuss the challenges for modern democracy and potential solutions, including reinventing voting systems, threats from AI in the presidential elections, and Universal Basic Income. Yang’s reinvention of voting systems is fascinating. I love it. Who would have thought there could be such a different way, but once you hear it you’re hooked. We’d get great candidates that way. The second half is a good listen about UBI, which is on my short list for how to save the world. Diamandis is looking for MOONSHOTS, big things to massively get behind as we did with going to the moon. It’s how he categorizes UBI and Yang’s ideas about elections.

She was not feeling her best with some sort of flu, but her enlightened perspective still shines through. That she is running for President is wild and maybe whacky, but there she is, so let’s take it from there. I think if we knew nothing about anybody and just listened to all the candidates she would be our President. She is coming from a bedrock of fairness and kindness and not just dealing with political positions devoid of moral ones. She’s in the bigger story in which we aren’t dog-eat-dog rugged individualists but are one humanity, which is the essential realization we need to get us all helping to make this a wonderful world.

I’m drawn to what could make radical differences, and today say hello to the crop circles. Overnight they could change the world. Who we think we are determines how we behave, and our Christian sinner story has to go. Since Hubble, when we saw that the universe was expanding, it taught us we’re not on Earth using her, but we are of Earth as her with the privilege of being at the forefront of her evolutionary development. I wonder if subscribers are aware of that track. It was inspired by Teilhard de Chardin, passed through Thomas Berry, and Brian Swimme is its current leading light. Getting that understood is top of my list for what can change things the most.
