Dr. James Doty is on my wavelength. This interview with him, because it was on the subject of kindness, got me listening, but I appreciated him even more for how he framed that in the larger picture about who we are and what we are doing here. Here’s the comment I put on this video: “All so smart. They are talking basics, as none of our politicians do. It’s time for a complete restructuring of the whole world, because we need it and because we are so unhinged now that it’s a good time to think radically. A declaration we’d go to the moon was what mobilized that effort, and how about a declaration now? How about it being a fundamental right for all people on earth to get sustenance: health care, housing, food, education? For everyone everywhere. We’d be running the world on mutuality instead of rugged individualism, where kindness would prevail as the worldview we desperately need. I am advocating for that and would love to see some power figures come together to talk about it.”
