This tribute came together the day after it was proposed, and moving that fast is testimony to what a giant Sondheim was. Not only performers, who received phone calls, came, but this crowd was everyone in the public, like my New York daughter who heard the word and hightailed it to Duffy Square to be part of it. Watch the video to the end for the person who instigated the whole thing telling how he pulled it off. I’m a Broadway lover and I thought it was heartwarming.
