My Heroes

FEATURED HERO

Brian Thomas Swimme received his Ph.D. from the Department of Mathematics of the University of Oregon in 1978 for work in gravitational dynamics.  At the present time he is at the California Institute in Integral Studies in San Francisco where he teaches courses on evolutionary cosmology to graduate students in the humanities.  In his writing, teaching, and speaking, Brian is committed to a meaningful interpretation of the human within an evolving cosmos. He is the author of The Universe Is a Green Dragon, The Universe Story (the culmination of a ten-year collaboration with cultural historian Thomas Berry), The Hidden Heart of the Cosmos, and is co-writer with Mary Evelyn Tucker of Journey of the Universe.
Brian has produced three educational video series: Canticle to the Cosmos, Earth’s Imagination, and The Powers of the Universe.  Most recently he co-wrote and hosted the 60-minute film, Journey of the Universe, broadcast on PBS stations nationwide. He lectures widely and has presented at conferences sponsored by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, The World Bank, UNESCO, The United Nations Millennium Peace Summit, and the American Museum of Natural History.
Brian’s latest is an online course. In his words, “It will be the first time an in-depth course in the new cosmology is available all around the planet with a flick of the switch.”

A woman improves things. Give her sperm she gives you a baby. Give her a house you get a home. Give her groceries you get a meal. Smile and you get her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap be ready to receive a ton of shit.

Crop Circles could shift our worldview and got me to be a filmmaker. What on Earth? got a good review in The New York Times. It streams free if you have Amazon Prime and is $2 on Vimeo. There's great bonus material if you buy the DVD.
Before I made What on Earth?, I was the Executive Producer of CROP CIRCLES: Quest for Truth. It streams free here.
